How do I measure my head?

You'll need a soft tape measure. No tape measure? A piece of string and a ruler works just as well.

Step 1

Wrap the tape around your head where a hat sits — across the middle of your forehead and just above your ears.

Step 2

Keep it snug, not tight. Leave about one finger of wiggle room.

Step 3

Write down the number in inches or centimeters. Measure twice — and if you're between two numbers, write down the bigger one.

FAQs

I'm between two sizes. Now what?

Always round up. A hat that's a touch loose can be dialed in with a sizing strip or felt insert. A hat that's too tight can't be saved. When in doubt, go bigger.

What's the average size?

Can't measure right now? Most women land around 57 cm (about 22⅝″, a Medium). Most men land around 59 cm (about 23⅜″, a Large). It's a ballpark to start from — still measure before you commit.

Which hat suits my face shape?

Size gets the fit right; shape gets the look right. Oval: almost anything works. Round: a wide brim like a fedora adds balance. Long: a wider brim frames the face. Square: softer, rounded crowns soften strong angles. Heart-shaped: a medium brim is your sweet spot.
